IRTE Skills Challenge 2014
Operators of all sizes are invited to enter their technicians in the IRTE Skills Challenge as the event returns for its fourth year of competition. Pioneered by IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers), one of the most respected names in UK transport, it is aimed directly at technicians from the bus and coach industry. It provides an opportunity for operators from across the UK and Ireland to prove their technical competence and champion the vital work done by their engineers. It consists of individual and team categories covering mechanical, electrical and bodywork disciplines.
Sponsored by Allison Transmission, BAE Systems, Bridgestone, Knorr-Bremse and Shell Lubricants, the competition will take place at S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol from 2 to 6 June. Prizes donated by Teng Tools will be presented at a ceremony in July. According to the IRTE, the benefits of entering the IRTE Skills Challenge are two-fold: the competition acknowledges and rewards technicians and apprentices who demonstrate excellence in their fields, and it recognises and raises the profile of the operators who employ them. There is no charge to enter the competition, although operators will need to cover travel and subsistence costs.
