Irizar UK starts building at Blyth
Irizar has started work on the development of a new site at Blyth, just off the A1 in Nottinghamshire.
This is the first phase in the construction of Irizar UK’s new headquarters. The news comes as Irizar Group celebrates 130 years of transport and engineering heritage.
The first phase of development will see the construction of a secured yard to hold stock coaches together with a sales office, while the main technical and administrative functions are retained at the current head office in Worksop. Irizar UK’s relationship with Johnson Brothers remains in place, with Johnsons offering service support and parts through Masterpart.
To ensure continuity of supply and price stability through Brexit, Irizar has assigned an allocation of special edition i6S Integral coaches to the UK, which will arrive before 31 October. Built to celebrate Irizar’s 130th anniversary, the 12.9-metre coaches feature DAF’s MX-11 300 408bhp engine coupled with ZF EcoLife automatic transmissions. A choice of 53- or 57-seaters will be available, with features including USB points and leatherette panels to the seat sides.
