Irizar electric bus trial in Barcelona

Irizar’s i2e all electric bus is being trialled by Baixbus on a number of routes in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (BMA) to check its suitability for use across the metropolitan area. It forms part of a fleet regeneration project which sees a further six i2e’s adapted for persons with mobility problems, as well as the new user information system at metropolitan bus stops, informing passengers of the minutes left until the arrival of the next bus.

The Irizar i2e is a 24 seat, low-floor urban bus which has a capacity for up to 70 passengers and is currently being tested in two Spanish cities, San Sebastian and Barcelona. It has been designed to offer a range of 200 to 250 km with only one charge at the end of the day. Irizar claim five hours of charging guarantees between 14 and 16 hours of driving.
