Industry people honoured by The Queen

A number of professionals from the bus and coach industry received titles in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Ballymena featured strongly with Wrights Group Chairman and CEO, Mark Nodder, receiving an OBE for services to the economy in Northern Ireland and Wrightbus’ William John (Jack) Kernohan receiving an MBE for services to the bus industry. Ben Colson, former MD of Norfolk Green, received an MBE for services to the economy and the community in Norfolk.

An OBE was awarded to Ian Morgan, the Deputy Chairman of Wellglade Group and CPT’s Chairman. His accolade was for services to public transport and the community in the East Midlands. Ian was CPT President in 2009 and has served as Chairman since 2011.

A number of DfT personnel were recognised in the list. Receiving an MBE for services to transport were Anne Broome, Private Office Business Manager at DfT and Philippa Ann Brown, Policy Adviser, Motor Insurance at DfT. William Robert Mayne, Joint Chair and Director of CDM Community Transport and Chair of Shopmobility Cookstown and Dungannon, has been given an MBE for services to rural transport and people with disabilities. Chair of the LGBT Staff Network at TfL, Martyn Loukes, was named a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire for services to diversity in the workplace.

SMMT’s Communications Manager, Janet Wilkinson, has been awarded an MBE for services to the motor industry and charity. Chief Executive of the SMMT, Mike Hawes, said, ‘Janet’s award is richly deserved. Everyone at the SMMT and across the industry will be delighted, especially as she is someone who has given so selflessly for a number of charities, especially WOMAC (Women on the Move Against Cancer).’
