Industry helps out operator after fire

Jenna Duke of North East Coach Travel has thanked those who provided support following the recent fire at the operator’s depot.

In a Facebook post, she said: “Thank you so much to everyone that has reached out offering help and support and good wishes, it’s amazing to see the network of other coach companies offering to help us the way they have and offering spare vehicles for us to use in the meantime. You are all amazing!”

The blaze took place on Wednesday (14 September) night and destroyed a number of the operator’s vehicles. Among those damaged beyond was North East Coach Travel’s first new coach. In a separate Facebook post, Jenna described it as a ‘sad day’ to see the destroyed vehicle towed away.

The police are treating the fire as suspected arson.

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact the police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of its website or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20220914-1128.
