Industry challenged to provide Period Positive workplaces
Women in Bus and Coach has launched a new campaign to tackle period poverty across the industry.
The initiative challenges all major bus and coach garages, along with support offices and industry partners such as manufacturers across the UK, to become Period Positive workplaces by the end of 2025. This ensures employees have free and reliable access to menstrual products at work.
The campaign comes as period poverty continues to impact millions in the UK, with many unable to afford basic menstrual products. Women in Bus and Coach’s campaign aims to raise awareness about the issue within the industry and bring about a tangible, positive change for employees.
Transport UK, Stagecoach, First Bus and Metroline have already implemented Period Positive policies.
As part of the campaign, Women in Bus and Coach will provide resources, workshops and guidance to help operators and garages implement Period Positive practices, ensuring that all employees—regardless of gender—are supported in understanding and tackling period poverty.
“We are proud to challenge every major bus and coach garage, support office and manufacturers to adopt Period Positive policies and join us in making a meaningful difference” – Louise Cheeseman, Women in Bus and Coach Chair
Louise Cheeseman, Women in Bus and Coach Chair, said: “Period poverty is a pressing issue in the UK, and as an industry, we have the opportunity to be leaders in social responsibility. Providing access to essential menstrual products helps create an equitable and dignified workplace for all employees. We are proud to challenge every major bus and coach garage, support office and manufacturers to adopt Period Positive policies and join us in making a meaningful difference.”
