More improvements for Arriva SC

Arriva Southern Counties will be making changes to some of its services in the Southend, Rayleigh and Castle Point area with effect from 17 November. It includes an increase in frequency for Service 1 from Shoeburyness through Bournes Green, Southchurch, Southend, Westcliff, Leigh, Hadleigh and Thundersley to Rayleigh. Its frequency will be upped from every 12 minutes on Mondays to Saturdays to every ten. This follows heavy investment earlier this year when it put a £2m fleet of 16 new buses on the road, specifically purchased for use on the service that it branded ‘the One’.

There will be some other changes to services in the Shoebury area, with the One terminating at the Renown instead of Blackgate Road at Shoeburyness and Services 7 and 8 being extended to Blackgate Road instead. These buses will also run more frequently between Southend town centre and Shoeburyness, up from every twenty minutes to every 15 minutes, giving better links across the town from the Shoebury and Thorpe Bay areas to Southend Hospital. Also in line for some improvement are Services 4 and 4A between Southend, Southchurch, Great Wakering and Landwick, with some additional evening buses and a revised timetable that it is hoped will be easier for people to remember.
