HM the Queen on the Busway
Stagecoach carried a Royal passenger recently as the Queen sampled the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway as part of a visit to the county. She has been pictured boarding one of the Volvo B7RLE Wrightbus Eclipse single deckers operated by Stagecoach on the Busway. Contrary to reports in the national media, the bus ran on time.
A spokesperson from Stagecoach said, ‘On arrival at Cambridge Railway Station the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh met the awaiting crowd before boarding the Stagecoach single decker for the journey to Addenbrookes, using the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. Welcomed aboard by Stagecoach East MD, Andy Campbell, the Royal couple were clearly impressed by the quality of ride. It was a great day for the city of Cambridge and a very exciting day for our staff, not least Royal Bus Driver Mick Capper, who said he felt honoured to have had the opportunity to chauffeur such important guests.’
