High-capacity Cygnus passes tilt test

B.A.S.E Coach Sales has sold the first three of a new, high-capacity coach layout based on the Spanish-built Beulas Cygnus.

Underpinned by Scania’s powerful K360 chassis, the 12.7-metre coaches heading for AAA Coaches of Edinburgh have 70 Prime Buckingham seats with USBs in a 3+2 configuration and are fully PSVAR equipped with a Hidral wheelchair lift and Hanover destination displays.

The high capacity isn’t just of passengers – the coach has around 9m3 of luggage space, making it highly adaptable for sports trips. It features ZF’s acclaimed EcoLife automatic gearbox and Webasto pre-heater.

B.A.S.E General Manager, Nick Dodgson, says the coach, now tilt-tested, is the result of a burgeoning relationship with Beulas, established after the demise of Moseley: “They build high-value products almost by hand, so the quality is excellent. This coach has loads of legroom in this configuration and is very adaptable. If the lift is deleted, it can accommodate 74 seats on the flat floor.”
