Go-Coach switch to DRT during coronavirus

Sevenoaks-based Go-Coach is to launch a demand responsive transport (DRT) service in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Instead of the current timetabled bus services, from 14 April the operator is allowing customers to book a bus within minutes of when passengers need to travel using a ViaVan app or telephone. It will aim to pick passengers up within 30 minutes. The new DRT temporarily replaces the company’s usual bus services. These temporary changes are designed to allow the operator to focus its resources where the demand is needed most, by only making required journeys with direct routes. Journeys may be shared with others travelling along a similar route, but detours are minimised. Estimated journey times will be provided when customers book.

Go-Coach owner, Austin Blackburn, believes the DRT service is ideal to suit demand in these challenging times. The operator was due to launch a DRT service in the Sevenoaks area in May.
