Globe Holidays takes on Eddie Brown Tours
Although new investment in Eddie Brown Tours was secured in early 2014 after difficult trading conditions, the company subsequently reported it was not able to turn the business around. This was followed earlier this month by an announcement that the operator had gone into voluntary receivership and had apparently been issued a winding up order by HMRC. However, a statement on its website said customers’ tour bookings will be unaffected and have been taken over by Barnsley based Globe Holidays Ltd with day trips and holidays under the Eddie Brown Travel name. The only immediate difference is a change of address for its booking office and telephone numbers diverting to Barnsley.
A statement on Eddie Brown Tour’s website said, ‘Despite the many rumours and negative stories that will unfortunately be doing the rounds as a result of these changes, we can assure you that as far as your holiday and daytrip bookings are concerned, it will remain very much business as usual with Eddie Brown Travel.’
Eddie Brown Tours announced it could not operate its bus routes in December last year (see B&CB 1307, 19 December 2014). These have now been taken over by other operators. Despite several attempts to contact them, no one from Eddie Brown or Globe Holidays was available to provide further comment at the time of going to press.
