First’s transport arrangements for Athletics

First Cymru has detailed the transport arrangements being put in place during the IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea between 18 and 23 August. The games feature a range of world renowned athletes from the Paralympic community. Over 15,000 people are expected to travel to Swansea to watch six days of sporting competition. With no on-site spectator parking for the Championships, those heading to the Welsh city have been urged to use public transport to get to and from the main site in the Swansea University International Sports Village.

To underpin this the following arrangements have been put in place: During the Championships First Cymru will divert Services 2, 2B and 2C to operate via Swansea University and Singleton Hospital; it will run additional Park and Ride evening journeys on the ftrMetro between the Landore Park and Ride site, Swansea Railway Station, the city centre and Singleton Hospital between 19 and 23 August; it has also employed four special ambassadors to work in Swansea for the duration of the Championships to assist people visiting the city, ensuring a seamless transport experience.
