First’s Platinum to break 2m mark

As First Aberdeen’s Platinum Service reaches its first birthday, passenger numbers are set to break through the two million barrier. Passenger growth on the premium service is currently at 5.3% year on year and around 35,000 people now use it every week. By Christmas, over 2m passengers are expected to have travelled on the Platinum service. To celebrate, First Aberdeen is running a competition on Twitter, giving its customers the chance to win an iPad Mini. The service offers customers leather seats, free wi-fi and a ‘no quibble’ guarantee which enables customers to claim a free journey should they be unhappy with any aspect of the service. Platinum 19, the first to be launched, links Culter, the city centre and Tillydrone. Following its huge success, First expanded Platinum to Service 12 running between the city centre from Torry and Heathryfold every ten minutes.

MD of First Aberdeen, Duncan Cameron, said, ‘The First Aberdeen team is constantly working hard to improve services and attract more customers on board. Platinum is the most high profile, ambitious initiative that we’ve introduced and the facts speak for themselves. Going forward we will continue to invest in our services and make bus travel a better and more attractive option for our regular passengers and those who are joining for the first time. I’m confident we can continue to build on our success.’
