First Van Hool T Series goes to DJ Thomas

After the news of VDL agreeing to take over Van Hool production, the Belgian manufacturer’s UK arm has delivered its first T Series.

The Van Hool T16 Astron had no sooner been delivered to to D J Thomas of Neath, near Port Talbot, than it went to the UK Coach Rally and won Coach of the Year at the Blackpool event. The coach is powered by a DAF MX-13 355kw 483hp engine coupled to an Allison fully-automatic gearbox. It is fitted with 53 full-leather seats with USB chargers, a centre-mounted water flush toilet, a boiler and a fridge in the dash. Entertainment is taken care of by LCD monitors and a radio infotainment system with CD and DVD player. Other features include a PA system and pavement lights.

The vehicle was picked up by DJ Thomas tour driver Gareth from Van Hool UK‘s Wellingborough site. The operator celebrates its 70th year this year with an open day at its depot on 4 May.
