First orders for Scania Touring
Following the announcement of the Scania Touring’s UK launch earlier this year, Scania (Great Britain) Ltd has secured its first sales. Skills Motor Coaches Ltd of Nottingham has ordered three and Tranzcare Travel Ltd of Manchester has ordered one. Skills’ vehicles are scheduled for delivery in April 2015, whilst Tranzcare’s is due to enter service next June. The model chosen by both operators features Scania’s 410hp Euro6 engine and the fully automated Scania Opticruise gear selection system. The coach’s safety equipment includes lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, advanced emergency braking and electronic stability programme. The vehicles are equipped with 57 Kiel seats with semi-leather headrests and piping, an AD drinks system, a refrigerator, seat back tables, footrests, magazine holders, a full air conditioning system and a Bosch DVD and two LCD monitors.
Skills Motor Coaches Operations Director, Pete Hallam, said, ‘We were very impressed with the Scania running gear and very much like the Touring body. We were also pleased that Scania was able to adapt several features for us, such as fitting the drinks machine of our choice. The Touring has the same seats as other coaches in our fleet, and that appealed to us too. We will be using the vehicles primarily on UK and continental touring, both on our own tour programme and on behalf of other tour operators.’
Tranzcare Travel MD, Pete Green, said, ‘The Scania Touring is a well presented and well-finished vehicle which is competitively priced and comes with all the back-up and support you would expect from Scania. Furthermore, the vehicle is approved by one of the major tour operators we work for as they have experience of the vehicle in Europe.’
