According to a local press report, MD of First Glasgow, Ronnie Park, has been put on ‘indefinite gardening leave’ in a suspected row over service cuts, with a senior manager from First’s headquarters in Aberdeen understood to have been appointed temporarily in his place.

A spokesperson for FirstGroup said, ‘Ronnie Park is taking some leave and operations are continuing as normal’, adding ‘Despite what has been reported in a newspaper today, I can assure our customers and all our stakeholders that First Glasgow has no plans to cut services or cut jobs. Indeed having just put into place our new network, simpliCITY, we are completely focussed on growing the business and encouraging more passengers to use our servicesand to use them more often. We are very excited about the future prospects for our company.’

The recent launch of SimpliCITY, the revised bus network for Glasgow included a £14.3m investment in 89 new single deckers.
