First expands M Ticketing
First Aberdeen has expanded its M Ticketing initiative following significant demand from students in the city. Student tickets are now available via the ‘First Bus Mobile Tickets’ app, which enables mobiles to be used as bus tickets. Five student tickets are available, including the discounted £300 academic term ticket (normal price is £350), which gives students unlimited travel across the network for just over £1 a day. Since the launch of mobile tickets in March, the operator has sold 40,000 of them.
MD of First Aberdeen, Duncan Cameron, said, ‘M Ticketing was introduced to help make using the bus that little bit more convenient, customers need not worry about having the correct change and it helps us speed up boarding times. It’s been a fantastic success thus far and is certainly helping us attract new customers, but is also encouraging infrequent customers to get on board the bus more often.’
