First Edinburgh Airport/Glasgow service launched

Scottish Citylink, the Stagecoach and ComfortDelGro joint venture, has launched the first coach service to operate between Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow city centre. The new Citylinkair runs direct between Glasgow’s Buchanan Bus Station and Edinburgh Airport, with journey times of one hour, operating every 30 minutes during peak times. It is claimed to be the quickest method of public transport between the two destinations. The new route is run under contract by West Coast Motors using five new Scania K360 based Irizar i6 coaches. The vehicles seat 59 people or 55 plus a wheelchair and are designed to provide ample space for passengers’ full designated luggage allowance. The first coach leaves Glasgow at 04.00 and the last leaves the airport at 22.30.

MD for Stagecoach Coaches and Special Activities, Elizabeth Esnouf, said, ‘We’re delighted to be introducing this new service for passengers travelling between Scotland’s biggest city and its busiest airport. Following valuable feedback from customers we decided to introduce this new route to help passengers save time and money when travelling to and from Edinburgh airport. They can sit back and relax without worrying about the hassle of driving or the cost of car parking. As this is the only service of its kind, we recommend that passengers book early so they can get the best possible deal and be certain to get a seat.’
