First Cymru in CILT awards

First Cymru has been nominated four times in the Wales National Transport Awards 2015. The awards, organised by CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), will be presented at a lunch ceremony in Cardiff on 12 June. First have received two nominations in the category ‘outstanding individual contribution’. Mark Jacobs, a staff operations manager based in Bridgend and Maesteg, was nominated for his ‘infectious enthusiasm’ and his ‘continued commitment to safety for both passengers and staff’. Christian Horn, First’s customer and staff engagement manager, was also nominated in this category. The operator’s Cymru Clipper network is in the running for the Passenger Transport Best Practice title. These services recently celebrated their first birthday and have had over 3.4m passengers. First’s ‘Top 15’ initiative has been short listed for the ‘Development of People’ award.

MD of First Cymru, Justin Davies, said, ‘We were really pleased to be nominated for four categories at this year’s Wales National Transport Awards. It is always an honour to be nominated for any award. These nominations are a great reflection of the improvements we have made in Wales, both for our customers and our staff. I am proud of what we have achieved. The Cymru Clipper services are an example of our hard work paying off. Over 3m passengers have enjoyed these services so far, this represents a rise of 9% which is really good news and I am sure more and more passengers will be getting on board as we continue to make improvements.’
