Ember launching new Aberdeen-Edinburgh route
Electric coach operator Ember is launching a new route between Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
The new route is set for launch in 22 October 2024, with 20 services per day running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It plans to soft launch some limited stop services ahead of this.
The new route takes in Forfar, Brechin, Dundee, Bridge of Don and more. A connection to Edinburgh Airport is also available. The launch of this route also means it is doubling its frequency from Dundee to Edinburgh, with 40 buses per day providing a half hourly frequency at most times of day.
Ember already runs routes to and from Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, connecting locations between those cities. Earlier this year, the operator raised an £11 million Series A financing round, before taking out a £5.6m loan to expand its business. After receiving a share of the latest round of the Scottish government’s low-emission bus and coach funding, the company plans to roll out 100 electric coaches by 2026.
Ember is to make other changes to its services on 22 October, including alterations to stops and the cessation of its E1X service from Dundee to Wallyford. Despite the latter cancellation, the operator suggests it could run future services connecting to Wallyford.
