Eddie Brown ceases local services

Eddie Brown Tours of Wetherby, Yorkshire, has advised North Yorkshire County Council that it can no longer operate several contracted local bus services. The announcement was made with immediate affect on 9 December 2014. The services included four school services and bus routes 56, 56A, 57, 57A, 58, 142 and 143. The school services have now been replaced as follows until the end of term. York Pullman is running the 636H, 645H, 57A (Boroughbridge School to Knaresborough and Harrogate), 56A (Ripon Schools to Knaresborough and Harrogate) and 653H; whilst Procters has taken on the 644H. The 57A (St John Fisher & St Aiden’s to Knaresborough and Boroughbridge) is now operated by Harrogate & District Travel. Connexions (Harrogate Coach Travel) is operating the 142 (Boroughbridge School to Ripon) and the 143 (Ripon Schools to Boroughbridge).

Services 56, 56A, 57, 57A and 58 were operated jointly by York Pullman, Harrogate and District Travel and North Yorkshire County Council’s own fleet on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December. However no services were run on Saturday 13 December. The following week, the routes were operated by Harrogate and District Travel. Services 142 and 143 are now being run by Connexions (Harrogate Coach Travel) until 24 December. The timetables have remained unchanged.

When contacted by B&CB, Eddie Brown Tours did not wish to make a comment.
