East Yorkshire building new depot

Go-Ahead-owned East Yorkshire is building a new depot in Scarborough.

The new site is to replace and combine its existing Barry’s Lane and Westwood depots in the seaside town to a single new location on Taylor Way in the middle of 2024.

The new site will include facilities to allow a transition to electric buses in the future. It is being developed in partnership with landlord GoodREIT and will be future-proofed to ensure that buses can be maintained, serviced and cleaned for many years to come. The new site is also being built to the latest environmental standards.

Subject to planning approval, the work will start on the site this summer, and is expected to take around 12 months.

MD, Ben Gilligan, said: “This is a very exciting time for East Yorkshire, allowing us to move away from the two sites that we currently occupy in Scarborough, and merge our efforts together as well as adapting to the needs of modern bus operations. We’re looking forward to making the move to show our commitment to providing the best possible service to Scarborough and the surrounding area.”
