Don’s celebrates 70 years

To mark its 70th year in business, Don’s of Dunmow opened its depot gates to all. The celebration saw coaches and buses from the past 70 years on show, which were provided by fellow operators and preservation groups. They were displayed alongside the operator’s most modern coaches, as well as displays of motorbikes and classic cars. Food and refreshments were provided, with staff from the operator on-hand to assist visitors. Takings from the day were donated to charity. Bus rides around the operator’s hometown of Great Dunmow, Essex, were provided on an open-topper Leyland Titan PD3 from Panther Travel.

Commenting on the secret to 70 years in business, Managing Director at Don’s, Steve Harvey, said: “Reliability is a big thing. It’s about good maintenance and turning up on time. Being smart and having a good presentation, they are big things.”
