Coach demand is strong, says National Express

Having relaunched services after a cessation of operations due to the lockdown imposed in January, National Express reports that demand for coach travel is strong. In response, it has added routes and increased its timetable.

A spokesperson from the company said: “We have added eight new routes to our timetable and increased the frequency of existing services from this week and demand is strong.

“Around 65% of seats for travel on Monday 12 April were sold as of midnight yesterday (Sunday 11 April) and this trend looks set to continue for the rest of the week and beyond.

“Coach stations are also reporting a noticeable increase in footfall and more travellers buying tickets for on the day travel compared to last week.”

This follows the operator’s report that around 70% of seats were sold on services for its first week back since the start of the third lockdown (week commencing Monday 29 March 2021). This figure increased to 80% over the Easter weekend.
