Daimler’s successful 2014

Daimler AG has continued its successful development in 2014 and has set new records for unit sales, revenue and EBIT from the ongoing business. EBIT for 2014 of €10.8bn/£8.007bn is at the level of the previous year. EBIT from the ongoing business increased by 27% to €10.1bn/£7.5bn, which is the highest ever achieved by Daimler AG (2013: €8bn/£5.93bn). The company assumes it will significantly increase its unit sales, revenue and EBIT from the ongoing business once again in 2015.

Daimler Buses sold 33,200 buses and bus chassis worldwide in 2014 (2013: 33,700). Revenue of €4.2bn/£3.11bn was slightly higher than in 2013 (€4.1bn/£3.04bn). Daimler Buses significantly increased its EBIT to €197m/£146.04m in the year under review (2013: €124m/£91.9m). Return on sales rose significantly to 4.7% (2013: 3%). The manufacturer expects a slightly larger market volume for buses in Western Europe in 2015 than in 2014. It anticipates a slight increase in total unit sales. This is based on the assumption of a stable development of unit sales in Europe and Latin America and rising unit sales in Mexico.

Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, said, ‘We set new records once again in 2014 – for unit sales, revenue and earnings. This progress is the result of consistent hard work. And it is based on decisions we made several years ago and which we have successfully implemented since then. That is now paying off. It is clearly tangible throughout the Group. Daimler is on an upward curve.’
