CPT tackling PSVAR
Two potential stances on PSVAR have been presented by the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) to its members. The trade body is asking members to choose a preferred stance from the two.
With the same initial content, the two reports differ in the potential solution they each present. The first option argues that PSVAR was never intended to include home to school journeys and that as such, it is out of scope, while also emphasising the impossibility of complete compliance from September 2020.
The second view suggests PSVAR is in scope for home to school and therefore suggests seeking realistic solutions over the longer term, to implement PSVAR without detriment to the coach industry. It states that compliance from September 2020 is not possible, but emphasises the industry’s willingness to work to a long-term solution and end uncertainty for members.
CPT is meeting with DFT officials to discuss PSVAR concerns.
