Connaught PSV bows out as EVM takes Ferqui UK distribution
With the impending retirement of Steve Peach, founder of Connaught PSV, the distribution of Ferqui products in the UK will pass to EVM in a managed transition, and a stock of spare parts is being introduced at EVM’s Horsham base.
EVM already handles Ferqui products in Ireland and the combined UK/Ireland market is expected to be around 70 units in 2025. These are likely to be equally split between the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based Soroco (known as the Sunset in Ireland) and the Iveco-based 33 seat Sunrise which is now under the 7.2tonnes gvw limit enforced by Iveco to retain the factory warranty on the chassis. Around 250kg has been removed, mainly through the use of lighter materials.
Steve has been associated with the Ferqui product since it was first imported by Optare around 25 years ago and has exclusively distributed it through Connaught PSV since 2011. All Connaught stock has now been sold and EVM expect to have stock units available by the end of this year. All existing Ferqui warranties will also transfer to EVM.
The transfer was formally announced at the opening of Euro Bus Expo on the EVM stand with current Ferqui CEO David Quince and previous incumbent, his uncle Faustino, in attendance. EVM MD, Danny McGee spoke then of the good relationship that has existed between EVM and Connaught for over ten years and paves the way for a smooth transition.
