ComfortDelGro first quarter results

In its results for the first quarter ended 31 March 2014, Singapore based ComfortDelGro’s revenue increased by 9.2% to a record £452.17m/SGD950.8m and operating profit went up 5.8% to £48.28m/SGD101.5m. At group level, revenue from its bus business increased by 13% to £222.4m/SGD467.5m, which it said was due largely to strong overseas contributions. In its bus operations in the UK, revenue rose 62.8% to £91.6m/SGD192.6m due to the contribution of Metroline West, which was acquired in July 2013, as well as a positive currency translation effect. In Great Britain, it owns Metroline, Armchair Passenger Transport and has a joint venture with Stagecoach to run Scottish Citylink Coaches.
