Coaches lead the way in registrations

Total bus and coach registrations grew 0.8% in November, with 628 registered, leading to a rolling year total of 7,521, up 0.6%. However coach registrations lead the way last month, rising 6.5% in the period to 49, making for a rolling year total of 915, up 11%. SMMT Chief Executive, Mike Hawes, said, ‘Another month of growth for coaches offset the decline in purpose-built bus registrations, leading to a level overall market. This replicates the sector’s performance in the year so far, as continually growing demand for coaches contrasts with a more subdued bus market.’

There were 183 buses registered in November 2014, down 20.4%, leading to a rolling year total of 2,635, a 6.8% decline. Converted buses totalled 396, up 14.9%, leading to a rolling year total rising 3.8% to 3,971.
