Cheaper by bus than Tuk Tuk

According to a recent piece of research by Travel Republic, the travel search website, it is cheaper to travel by London bus than it is by a Tuk Tuk in Thailand. It costs 42p a mile when travelling in the capital on the bus, while the iconic Thai transport (often thought of as being extremely cheap) will cost an average of 94p a mile. The website looked at various modes of transport across the globe and found Venice’s Gondola was the most expensive, averaging £53 a mile. The best value way of travelling, according to the report, is Guatemala’s Chicken bus, which costs the equivalent of less than 1p a mile. Okay, so you may be packed in up to the rafters, two-a-seat, with no air-con, but these much-loved, brightly coloured and characterful iconic modes of transport win hands-down on value.
