Changes to PCV driving tests announced by DVSA

DVSA is planning to implement changes to vehicle testing regimes to address the driver shortage.

Under the new proposals learner bus and coach drivers will be able to take a bus and coach test with a trailer, rather than having to pass a test without a trailer first.

It will still be possible to book a bus and coach test without trailers following this change.

This development is in addition to planned changes to lorry driver testing. The alterations will also see learner lorry drivers able to take an articulated lorry test without the need to pass a rigid lorry test first.

Changes to tests are set to come into force as soon as possible. They follow a public consultation over the summer, which saw thousands of respondents, including industry leaders, support the move.
