‘All Change for Crewe’

As part of the ‘All Change for Crewe’ economic development package, the town has implemented the ‘Smarter Ways to Travel’ scheme. The project is aimed at encouraging people in the area to choose more sustainable ways to travel. It includes the one1ink bus service, connecting the town centre with outlying industrial estates. The programme was made possible by £3.5m of funding from the DfT’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF).

‘All Change for Crewe’ also includes the ‘New Start’ bus ticket scheme. The aim of this initiative is to help people who live or work in the area to travel to new work, apprenticeships or training. It provides one month’s free bus travel to new employees, up to three months free travel for those in training and six months worth of free travel to those doing apprenticeships. It is available for over 18s who have been unemployed for over six weeks or 16 to 18 year olds who have not been in work, training or education for a minimum of six weeks.
