Chalkwell extends service after trial

As a result of a trial bus service, residents of Milton Regis are to have an extended route, which will serve the supermarkets and the town. The Chalkwell operated 11 route comes to an end next month, but to cover its withdrawal the new extended 7 service will commence on 3 November. The number 11 was funded by Kent County Councillor, Roger Truelove. Chalkwell’s current service 7 runs from Teynham to Asda via Sittingbourne. The new extended 7 will be to Sheerness Tesco from Sittingbourne Swanstree Avenue via Asda, Morrison’s and Tesco on the island.

Chalkwell Operations Manager, Andy Bates, said, ‘The new 7 will be taking in a section of route where Roger had previously funded the trial of the 11 which has allowed customers to get used to a bus service they previously didn’t have. In the funded trial they had two buses at Attlee Way three days a week, and from the third of November they will have an hourly service off peak Mondays to Friday to serve the supermarkets and the town.’
