CATL adds new bus battery to its range
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL), the Chinese battery manufacturer, has unveiled an electric bus battery with a 15-year service life.
The Tianxing L-series battery comes in long-range and fast-charge types, and boasts a 1.5 million kilometres lifespan, with energy density of 200Wh/kg, potentially reducing vehicle weight – range for range – by 300kg. The batteries come with an eight-year warranty.
Designed specifically for the electric bus sector, the Tianxing L-series battery features an IP69 rating, allowing it to withstand up to 72 hours of water immersion, demonstrating its durability under extreme conditions. This innovation is part of CATL’s commercial vehicle battery brand, Tectrans, also known as Tianxing.
CATL is the world’s largest power battery maker with a 37.6% global market share between January and July.
