Cardiff takes Enviro200s and Citaros

Cardiff Bus has taken delivery of 30 new single deckers, a mixture of Mercedes-Benz Citaros and ADL Enviro200s, worth £3.5m. The new fleet will be used on the operator’s network covering Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and Newport. Powered by Euro5 engines, they all feature CCTV, dedicated wheelchair and buggy spaces, real time information systems and audio and visual next stop announcements in both English and Welsh. The Enviro200s

have 39 seats, whilst the Citaros have 40.

Cardiff Bus’ MD, Cynthia Ogbonna, said, ‘This is a continuation of investment that has been happening over the last couple of years to improve the comfort, look and life of our current fleet. These new vehicles complement that investment in vehicle refurbishment which has been welcomed by customers. The arrival of brand new buses gives our customers confidence that they will be boarding a modern, comfortable and user friendly bus. The new fleet will make for a pleasant journey whilst being kinder to the environment thanks to the latest engine technology. The new fleet will also further enhance the reliability of our service, which is the single most important factor that customers, and potential customers, take into account when deciding to use our services. Ultimately we aim to improve services for our customers but also encourage more people to use our services and to use them more often. Those who haven’t travelled by bus for a while would be rightly impressed if they got one of our new buses.’

The Enviro200s were supplied by ADL and the Citaros were supplied by Mercedes-Benz directly.
