Bus priority package work starts

Work will start on the A664 Rochdale Road this month as part of a £122m bus priority package to improve bus journey times and service reliability on key routes into Manchester city centre. New bus and cycle lanes, bus stops, pedestrian crossings, parking bays and improved traffic signals are to be rolled out. TfGM and Manchester City Council consulted on the proposals to improve the road in late 2012. The work will be carried out by Manchester Contracts for completion by autumn this year. Work on Manchester New Road, which forms part of the wider route through to Middleton bus station, is scheduled to start in spring.
