‘Bus Hound’ at Reading Open Day

Reading Buses is to display its ‘Bus Hound’ land speed record beating Scania ADL gas powered bus at this year’s Open Day at its Great Knollys Street depot. There will be a raffle to win a driving experience in the record breaking single deck. Taking place on 14 June, the event will also see a New Routemaster on show. The day, which this year is in aid of Alzheimer’s Society, also offers the chance for visitors to go behind the scenes with tours of the workshop and control room as well as many other family attractions. Making its return is the popular ride through the bus wash. Free shuttle buses to the open day start in the town from Friar Street at 10.34 and run until 16.00. The operator plans a ‘lap of honour’ around Reading at 16.00 on the day.

It has received sponsorship from Ticketer, Alexander Dennis, Scania and Wrightbus who have provided contributions to Alzheimer’s Society.
