Bus franchising consultation now live in Cambridgeshire
A public consultation on Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority’s plans to potentially franchise buses is now live.
The 14-week consultation is open until 20 November 2024 for everyone to take part, either online, via a series of face-to-face events, or by post. It will inform a decision by the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough on how to reform buses across the area.
The Combined Authority intends to implement an interim Enhanced Partnership to manage bus services until any outcomes from the Combined Authority Board decision on bus services (including any potential date for commencing franchising if approved) can be delivered.
The Combined Authority commissioned independent transport consultant, ITP, to undertake a detailed assessment of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s transport needs and to provide an outline business case assessment for bus reform. Two approaches have been outlined in the assessment: a Franchising solution and an Enhanced Partnership (EP).
