Bus Driver of the Year final is back

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the UK Bus Driver of the Year (BDoY) is back.

The 54th National Final of the UK Bus Driver of the Year Competition takes place in Blackpool on Sunday 2 October.

A total of 89 competitors challenging for the coveted title of Bus Driver of the Year 2022 exceeds the number at the previous event in 2019.

Joe Mackie, Chairman of the UK Bus Driver of the Year Association, said that the 2016 National Final had marked 50 years of BDoY, which was first run in 1967 as a local contest in Coventry and subsequently grew into a national event. After celebrating the competition’s half-century the BDoY team is looking forward to welcoming new competitors and previous finalists to Blackpool again this year.

“We are”, said Joe Mackie, “very pleased that the competition still commands widespread support from its sponsors and entrant operating companies, with the National Final a fantastic place for drivers’ skills and commitment to excellent customer service to be displayed.”
