Blakes Coaches raises £5.5k for baby care unit

Tiverton-based Blakes Coaches has raised £5,500 for the Special Care Baby Unit (SBCU) in North Devon Hospital.

Each year, Blakes Coaches choose a different local charity to raise money for and last year it was the SBCU, which took care of employees Hannah and Nick Marland’s new born baby Olivia.

When Olivia was born on 10 December 2022, she contracted a viral and bacterial sepsis infection and as well as being jaundiced, spent the first five days of her life in SCBU.

After care by staff at the SBCU, Olivia made a full recovery, quicker than they all thought and Blakes reports she is now a happy, healthy, smiley baby.

The company ran a charity trip to the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish last month in aid of the SCBU, which raised the great amount for charity.

Over the past 18 years, Blakes Coaches has raised almost £97,000 for local charities.
