The Big Travel Survey

Thousands of school, college and university students have been asked for their views on public transport as part of the Centro’s drive to improve services for young people. Centro, the West Midlands’ transport authority, has been working with over 50 educational sites across the region to take part in The Big Travel Survey, which aims to find out how students and teaching staff travel each day. Nearly 50,000 young people have been asked how they get to and from their place of education, why they travel that way and what would encourage them to use public transport, cycling and walking. The results are to be used to improve future journeys and look at ways to further improve sustainable and active travel for students across the West Midlands. The survey forms part of the Smart Network, Smarter Choices project (SNSC) which aims to help better connect residents to jobs, education and training.
