Better use of M6toll discussed

Talks have taken place between the owners of the M6toll and the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority (ITA) over ways of making better use of the motorway network. The meeting was organised following growing calls that greater use should be made of the privately owned motorway, especially when the toll free network is congested. The ITA met with Andy Pearson, chief executive of Midland Expressway Ltd and James Hodson, the company’s Director of Motorway Operations. In response to questions about making better use of the M6toll when there were incidents on the M6, Andy told the ITA he felt the M6toll already provided significant benefits to through traffic. He added that improvements would need to be made to the links between the M6 and the M6toll with very careful consideration of diversion routes to provide further benefits to local traffic.
