Battle Bus tours overseas
London Transport Museum’s recently restored and converted ‘Battle Bus’, the world’s only operational B-type bus, is now undertaking a ten day tour of battlefields across Belgium and Northern France. The commemorative tour will highlight the contribution and sacrifices made by London transport workers during the First World War. It will also give the public an opportunity to find out more about the role of the 1000 London buses that were commandeered by Britain’s War Department during the conflict. The vehicle recently visited Ypres, where it took part in the Menin Gate ceremony. It provided the backdrop to the buglers playing the Last Post after which MD of Surface Transport at TfL, Leon Daniels, laid a wreath.
