Band bus businesses help NHS staff

With music events now cancelled across the country due to the coronavirus shutdown, band bus operators have offered their vehicles for NHS staff use. They are being used as accommodation and rest facilities for the key workers.

Vans for Bands is parking tour buses at hospitals for use by nurses and doctors fighting COVID-19. The company is seeking donations to keep them there for as long as needed and to send PCVs to more hospitals. It is aiming to raise £100,000 to make this possible.

MM Band Services is also offering its fleet out to NHS workers. A post on its Facebook page said: “We have 15 sleeper buses with 16 beds on each available for NHS staff anywhere in the UK for accommodation or office/admin/welfare areas….please get in touch if you think you may need us!”

Paul Coleman from Starcruiser has directed a Facebook post to Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. In it, Paul offered his fleet for use by NHS staff. The post said: “We run a fleet of sleeper busses for artist/bands touring the UK and Europe, due to the current restrictions during the coronavirus outbreak, it has had an immediate effect on us as a company and the Music Industry has ground to a halt.

“I hope we can be of assistance providing static accommodation parked up outside hospitals for all of the medical staff around the UK to take breaks/sleep during their challenging shifts. This will save them from having to travel to/from home and reduce the chances of infecting families and loved ones.”

Starsleeper is also offering its fleet for use by the NHS, astory that attracted the attention of the BBC.
