‘Art on Wheels’
Working with the Jack Tierney Gallery, based in Cults, First Aberdeen has transformed the interior of one of its buses into the company’s first ‘art on wheels’ internal gallery. The vehicle is used on the operator’s Platinum 19 service between Culter, Aberdeen City Centre and Tillydrone. The project was developed by the gallery’s collection of creative contributors. It focuses on the ‘Platinum Line’ theme, with each artist given a nine by nine inch board and asked to paint in their own style any subject, as long as it features a turquoise and platinum line. The results will be displayed onboard the bus until Christmas. The premium Platinum Service was launched in November 2013 and is attracting around 5% more passengers on board since.
