Arriva’s Dartford developments

Arriva has introduced a fleet of 21 Wrightbus StreetLites onto the two high-frequency Fastrack services that link Gravesend, Bluewater and Dartford. Representing an investment of £3.5m, they were launched in partnership with Kent County Council (KCC), Dartford and Gravesham Borough Councils and Prologis. They have a new Fastrack livery and offer customers free Wi-Fi, three-pin and USB power points, audio-visual next stop displays, eco-leather seating and brighter interior lighting. The livery design, branding and specification uplift has been funded by a contribution of £600,000 from KCC.

In addition to the new buses, KCC is investing in a programme of investment in Fastrack that has already seen the refurbishment of bus shelters and other infrastructure along the routes. This will be followed by the installation of new information screens at bus stops to not only give real time information about buses that are due at the stop but also other local traffic details. The Council is also setting up a Fastrack Management Board to ensure the service develops concurrently with these schemes.

Arriva has also introduced a more frequent timetable for its Sapphire 480/490 services together with an extension of the route to serve Riverview Park. Four more double deckers are being added to this service, following the successful trial use of two similar vehicles on the service in recent months.
