Arriva Yorkshire’s service revision
Arriva Yorkshire has unveiled a series of network and route enhancements for the Castleford, Pontefract and Knottingley area. To be introduced on 22 February 2016, it will see over 300 route miles affected by the changes. These include more direct links to Junction 32 and Leeds, simplified direct links to Wakefield from Castleford, Pontefract and Knottingley and some improvements to evening and Sunday services. A major change is the introduction of direct services to Leeds City Centre from Pontefract’s Chequerfield estate, with buses running up to every 30 minutes providing all day travel to and from Leeds for £4.70. The introduction of the changes follows consultations with passengers and stakeholders, as well as a review of the operator’s current services.
Regional MD for Arriva Yorkshire, Nigel Featham, said, ‘Striving to provide a good quality of service is in our DNA and when we receive feedback from passengers we act on it where possible. Our passengers are at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to providing them with the best possible service. Hopefully, they will like these changes and improved links to places like Xscape and Leeds City Centre.’
