Arriva acquires Zeta Automotive

Arriva has acquired a majority stake in automotive technology company, Zeta Automotive Ltd. The acquisition was for an undisclosed sum and sees the operator take 51% of the company’s shares. Established in 1989, Zeta Automotive serves a range of blue chip clients and exports its technology to markets across the world. Based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, it designs, develops and supplies a range of products that enable fleet operators to reduce fuel consumption and emissions output. It also provides a wide range of electronic vehicle management solutions. Arriva has conducted trials of the business’s Econospeed product, which demonstrated fuel savings of around 7%. The device is a dynamic throttle controller that enables customers to define criteria to limit vehicle engine speed and maximum rate of acceleration. The operator rolled out the system in its Malta bus operations.

Arriva’s Group Engineering Director, Mark Bowd, said, ‘Zeta Automotive already has an excellent track record in identifying and developing niche products in the automotive market, and delivering successful results for its customers. As businesses seek to operate in increasingly cost effective, sustainable and eco-friendlier ways, products that support these needs will become an essential part of fleet management. Zeta has great potential, with further product development underway that will significantly advance the way fleets can deliver maximum fuel efficiencies, and, for passenger carrying vehicles, ensure a better customer experience.’
