Arriva £6m for Northumberland

A new £3m depot in Ashington is the latest stage in Arriva North East’s £6m investment programme for Northumberland. The opening of the site follows the roll out of hybrid technology in the county in 2013. The company is confident it is now offering customers an enhanced journey experience that will see the bus become the transport of choice in the region. Later this year, the company is to introduce Sapphire buses on service X21/X22, offering passengers luxury on board facilities, such as charging points, extra leg room and Wi-Fi.

MD of Arriva UK Bus, Bob Holland, said, ‘This is a major vote of confidence in the potential of Ashington and Northumberland. Regenerating and strengthening the economy depends on good transport links and we believe this investment is a major boost for the area.’
