Another recruitment day announced following depot closures

Carousel Buses is announcing another recruitment day following Arriva’s pending closure of its High Wycombe and Aylesbury depots.

The Go-Ahead owned operator is seeking drivers, engineers, and service controllers as it steps up its plans to expand services following the announcement of the depot closures. The drop-in event on 7 July will allow affected Arriva staff and anyone else interested in new opportunities to learn more about the company and the roles available. It follows a fast-track recruitment day last month. The event is taking place in the Carrington Suite at the Holiday Inn, High Wycombe.

Carousel Buses plan to step in to run additional services after bus operator Arriva began consultation on the proposed closure of its depots.

Carousel Buses has increased its joining bonus for existing PCV licence holders to £4,000, which is paid in instalments over a one-year period. Benefits include free travel on Carousel Buses, Thames Travel and Oxford Bus Company services for employees and their families and discounts at various businesses. It provides paid training, a professional uniform, common start and finish points for work shifts, flexible working and what it describes as excellent holiday entitlement.

“A lot of colleagues at Arriva have been impacted by the sad news and we’d like to provide further reassurance that there are roles available” – Luke Marion, Carousel Buses Managing Director

Luke Marion, Carousel Buses Managing Director, said: “We had a fantastic response to the recruitment day last month and so are holding another one to enable more people to come in meet some of the team and discuss the opportunities available.

“A lot of colleagues at Arriva have been impacted by the sad news and we’d like to provide further reassurance that there are roles available. We’re specifically seeking drivers, engineers, and service controllers to join our team. Carousel Buses is a fantastic place to work, and we’re committed to taking on many of the services that were at risk.”

Carousel Buses plans to immediately provide a service on current Arriva routes 2, 3, 5/5a, 6/6a, 7/7a, 10, 11, 12, 13, 800, 850, and X80, from the date of the depot closures.
